Kick on how to Survive Growing up Chaotic
Below is a list of questions/a general outline that we will follow for your interview.
We do not need to follow this verbatim.
If a question takes us off on an interesting discussion we will just go with it.
We will break the interview up into 3 segments.
• Your journey with addiction from birth to motherhood
• Family dynamics / Addiction as a family disease
• Jagged Little Edges / Where can people find your products and website
Your journey with addiction from birth to motherhood
• On your blog, www.jaggedlittleedges.com you wrote an article titled “Addiction. A game the
whole family can play.” In this article you walk the reader through how growing up in an
addicted family affected each stage of your life from birth to motherhood. Walk us through
each of these pivotal points in your life and discuss the different roles that you played as a
result of growing up in addiction and dysfunction.
Family dynamics / Addiction as a family disease
• How does a family become “trained” by addiction? What are some of the behaviors that
family members pick up as a result of addiction? What are some of the things that children
growing up in an alcoholic or addicted home don’t get versus children that grow up in a
functioning and supportive family?
• What are some of the abnormal lessons that children growing up in addiction learn? How do
these lessons get transferred into their adult lives?
• Explain the process of how the family adjusts to and eventually maladjusts to the addict.
• How does our reasoning, as family members, become impaired?
• You mentioned in an interview that the family members can often times become sicker than the
alcoholic or addict in their lives. Explain what you mean by this.
• Why is addiction considered a family disease?
• Can a family member become well even if the addict or alcoholic in their life doesn’t? Where
can family members go to get the help they need? What is it that they need to understand
about addiction?
Jagged Little Edges / Where can people find your products and website
• Tell us about your book Jagged Little Edges. Where did you get the idea for this title?
• Why did you write this book and what do you hope that readers will get out of it?
• What are your plans for this series?
• Where can people buy Jagged Little Edges? Where can people find your blog?
• What advice would you give to your younger self? What would you want you to know?

Hello! I could have sworn I’ve been to this blog before but after browsing through
many of the articles I realized it’s new to me. Nonetheless, I’m
certainly delighted I stumbled upon it and I’ll be bookmarking it and checking
back often!
