Addicted to Addicts: Survival 101 – What About the Little Children?

Many addicts and alcoholics have young children. What happens in a household with one or both parents who are addicts? Who raises the children? How are they raised? What do they learn from their addicted parents? How can we protect them?

In this week’s interview Denise discusses this topic with Lorelie Rozzano, a mom, grandmother, daughter, counselor, and writer. Lorelie speaks of her own experience growing up in the home with an (addict) alcoholic parent, her experience with addiction, and how this sometimes permeates through a family. She works with children in her job as a counselor and talks about some of the characteristics she finds in all of them.

As a writer, she draws from all of her experiences related to alcoholism and addiction for her books. Her fiction books, begins with “Jagged Little Edges” which is a ten year evolution of a young woman through addiction. She has also produced a book to help children to cope called Gracie Secret. This book can be downloaded from her blog for free. Both books can be found on her blog.
